The 2023 NBA season is still underway, to the point of having played the first day of the In-Season Tournament, which left a controversial decision at the end of the game between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, since Stephen’s winning shot Curry was close to being canceled because of Draymond Green.

On the play, the point guard took a great dribble from the three-point perimeter, and just before entering the paint, he left a shot that bounced several times off the rim before entering, but at that moment, Green raised his hand in looking for a possible rebound, and having been very close to touching the ball, they asked for offensive interference to be called, which did not happen.

The reasons for the NBA

“After contacting the Replay Center, the ruling on the offensive basketball interference court is reversed. “There is clear and conclusive evidence that Green does not touch the ball and, although Green makes contact with the rim, touching the rim, while alone, does not violate the rule,” the NBA explained in a statement, in addition to adding in detail why Green It was saved legally.

“For contact with the rim to constitute offensive basketball interference when the ball is not in the net, it must: (a) occur while the ball is sitting or rolling on the rim and using the rim as its bottom base, (b) ) cause the ball to bounce unnaturally, or (c) throw the rim off center. None of those conditions were met on this play, so there was no interference at the basket.”

Maximum tension on the floor

It should be remembered that the play was initially marked as offensive interference, to the extent that no one from Golden State complained about the decision. However, during a long and exhaustive review on the monitor, the marking was reversed as there was no evidence to prove the fact. that Draymond Green touched the ball.

The Warriors’ 141-139 victory over Thunder made it clear not only that all the measures taken so far help the spectacle proposed by the NBA, but that the In-Season Tournament can be consolidated as a tradition for the future, by emulating the formats competition used in European basketball
