Steph Curry reveals his retirement plans with NBA star not looking to coach basketball but ‘wants to give back’

Curry has been eyeing recent career ventures from the likes of Tiger Woods and Mike Trout

GOLDEN State Warriors star Steph Curry has described what his post-NBA life might look like – and it could involve lots of golf.

The four-time NBA champion said he will remain part of the basketball world but likely not as a coach.

Curry, 35, doesn’t expect to leave the hardwood anytime soon, though, he said when asked if golf features in his post-retirement plans on the No Laying Up podcast.

The nine-time NBA All-Star pointed out he still has three years left on his current contract with the Warriors.

And, the point guard added, the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and the league’s upcoming new TV deal should motivate him keep hooping for as long as he can.

“But when it’s all said and done, I want to find a way to scratch the competitive itch,” Curry said.

“I don’t necessarily envision chasing a professional career in golf at all.

“But just in terms of like all the amateur events you can play – I know that some guys have kind of written a playbook on what that kind of schedule looks like.

“Some of the celebrity stuff, there’s one in Orlando – they play with the LPGA – obviously [Lake] Tahoe, some other amateur events that I can play in or try to qualify for and all that type of stuff.

“So you’ll probably see me all over the place there.”

Curry said he’ll also continue his partnerships with the Underrated Golf Tour and Howard University golf teams, aiming to make the sport more accessible for prospects from every community.

The Warriors star added he’s been observing athletes such as Tiger Woods and Mike Trout building their own golf courses and could launch a similar venture in the future.

“And obviously, I’ll maintain a basketball presence,” the two-time NBA MVP continued.

“I don’t think I want to go into coaching or anything like that but in some way, make sure I’m giving back to the game that has blessed me.

“But I haven’t really figured out that one yet.”

Curry is an avid golfer and has participated in celebrity events like the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe and The Match in the past.

But his focus is now back on basketball with the Warriors sharpshooter averaging 33.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in his first four appearances of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Recently, the Ohio native also made the headlines by embarrassing Dillon Brooks in a stunning sequence late in the 106-95 win over the Houston Rockets.
