Beyonce welcomed a cavalcade of boldface names to Saturday night’s premiere of her new concert film Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce.
Directed by the songstress herself, the movie is an on-camera record of her Renaissance World Tour, which was named after her 2022 album of the same name.
Stars galore flooded into the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on Saturday to tip their hats to Beyonce – but one was noticeably missing.
Taylor Swift was not in attendance at the glittering extravaganza, even though Beyonce attended the premiere of Taylor’s Eras Tour concert film last month.
So why was Taylor absent from Beyonce’s event?
Taylor is currently still in the midst of her Eras Tour, and on the night of Beyonce’s premiere she was playing a concert in São Paulo.
She has been whirling through South America all month, which is why she was also unable to celebrate Thanksgiving with her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Travis wanly revealed to his brother Jason Kelce on their podcast that he would be spending Thanksgiving alone because Taylor was in Brazil.
Jason, who is also an NFL player but for a different team, invited Travis to fly over to Philadelphia and ring in Thanksgiving with him.
However Travis was preparing for a football game on Sunday in Las Vegas, which may be one reason he could not travel to Brazil to be with his girlfriend.
Taylor’s stint in Brazil was struck by tragedy last week when an audience member at one of her Rio de Janeiro concerts collapsed in the heat and died.
A devastated Taylor postponed one of her subsequent shows, but the tour eventually soldiered on and she was onstage in São Paulo this weekend.
Meanwhile in California, a dazzling array of celebrities was parading through the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at the premiere of Beyonce’s new movie.
Lizzo, Chloe X Halle, Gabrielle Union, Lupita Nyong’o, Janelle Monae and Kris Jenner were among the recognizable faces at the fete.
In order to maintain an aura of secrecy, the invited guests were not even told where the premiere would be until 24 hours before.
The dress code provided for the ‘chrome carpet’ was cryptically described as ‘cozy opulence,’ according to a report in Variety.
Beyonce’s new concert film will bow in theaters this coming Friday on World AIDS Day – a touching detail inasmuch as the Renaissance album was dedicated to Beyonce’s gay cousin Jonny whom she lost to AIDS-related sickness.
Taylor recently released her own concert film of her Eras Tour – and when she threw its premiere in Los Angeles last month, Beyonce made a surprise appearance there.
The duo of pop titans posed together on the red carpet in a moment certain to send both of their ravenous fanbases into paroxysms of delight.
