PICTURE OF ANTHONY DAVIS VERY SAD AFTER RECENT FAILURE: “I PLAYED VERY BAD..
Anthony Davis made no excuses for his underwhelming performance in the Lakers’ 125-110 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
Davis admitted he “played very poorly” after scoring just nine points in 35 minutes.
“I just played bad,” Davis said. “I’m not going to attribute it to anything… It was just missed shots. I played really bad tonight. It’s that simple.”
DAVIS HAS BEEN DEALING WITH A HIP PROBLEM
Davis has been dealing with hip pain that arose during the Lakers’ loss to the Miami Heat on the 6th. He was left out of the next game against the Houston Rockets because of it.
Since missing the Nov. 8 game, Davis has been in the starting lineup for the last four games, averaging 34.7 minutes per game in that span. Wednesday was his worst game of the season in terms of shots made (three) and shooting percentage (33.3%).
IT WAS DAVIS’ LOWEST SCORE THIS SEASON
Davis’ nine points tied his lowest scoring output in a game this season. He also scored nine points in the game against the Heat when his hip started to bother him. Davis also had a negative personal record this season, having committed five turnovers.
This was the second night of back-to-back games and the third game in four days for the Lakers. Davis’ performance at least suggests he was tired. He didn’t have an offensive rebound for the second time this season.
Injuries will always be a concern for Davis given his history, but Wednesday’s performance can be attributed to a combination of poor performance and too many games in a short period of time.
