Stephen Curry is inarguably among the top three globally renowned NBA players of this generation. His name means marketing. When he is referenced in a song, it adds to his fame and also the fame of the song. He is perhaps only behind LeBron James when it comes to being referenced in rap songs.

Recently, American Rapper S*xxy Red dropped Curry’s name in his latest rap song ‘’SkyeeYee.” Upon being asked about his initial reaction to his name being dropped in Red’s song during an interview with Vive, Curry said he started laughing and said:

“When S*xxy Red did it, I just started laughing. I don’t know. I had never seen her at a basketball game.”

In her hit song “SkeeYee,” the rapper spits, “My sister in the backseat with a .30/ N****s tryna shoot they shot, Stephen Curry.”

Curry also said that he found that he has been mentioned over 106 times in rap songs. Despite Steph saying it was wild for him, given his stature and stardom, he perhaps deserved more numbers.

Stephen Curry chooses Drake’s 2014 song as his favorite name-drop

Despite being referenced over 106 times in rap songs, Stephen Curry still has the account of his favorite name-drops. He revealed that over the years, despite being used almost a decade ago, Drake’s “0 To 100 / The Catch Up” remains his favorite name-drop song.

Drake released “0 To 100 / The Catch Up” in 2014, where he spits,

“Been Steph Curry with the shot/ Been cookin’ with the sauce, chef, curry with the pot, boy/ 360 with the wrist, boy.”

Apart from Drake, Curry also shouted out Cardi B’s “Be Careful” among his favorite name-drops. Cardi B referenced the beautiful relationship between Steph and Ayesha Curry. “I wanna get married, like the Currys, Steph and Ayesha shit,” she spits.

Steph and the Golden State Warriors are ready to tip off their regular season against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. The Warriors are underdogs against his former teammate, Kevin Durant, and the Suns. However, with Chris Paul on the Golden State roster, Steve Kerr expects big from his team. It will be interesting to see how Dubs fans welcome Durant at Chase Center.
