NBA – “The Lakers regretted it as soon as he left, they quickly understood that it was a mistake”

La superstar NBA des Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, et le GM de la franchise, Rob Pelinka

Very satisfied with their summer market and the acquisitions they were able to make, the Lakers are however experiencing a very complicated start to the season. A context visibly conducive to remorse concerning the departure of a former member of the house.

Whether in terms of the profiles recruited or the contracts they distributed, they could a priori congratulate themselves on their off-season. On paper, the Lakers had indeed emerged stronger from last summer. And yet, the recovery proves to be oh so delicate for Darvin Ham’s men, who have five defeats after only eight games played. Enough for some fans to already speak of a crisis.

The Lakers determined to correct a mistake of the past?

Disappointing since the start of the season, the Angelinos nevertheless deplore several significant absences. As such, it still seems a little early to describe their situation as alarming and to fall into a climate of emergency. However, the front office is already thinking about potential reinforcements to fill certain gaps in the team. In the columns of Heavy.com, an executive notably advances the trail leading… to Alex Caruso:

The Lakers could look into a trade to bring back Alex Caruso: “The rumor about the Lakers was that they regretted him as soon as he left. They quickly understood that it was a mistake to have let him slip away. He is now not really the same player he was when he left the ship, but the Lakers fear not having enough strength. He could help them fix it”

A key player in the title won by the Purple & Gold in 2020, Caruso was not retained a year later, despite his desire to extend his adventure in Los Angeles. Then signed by the Bulls, he has since continued on his merry way in relative discretion. However, his past exploits have apparently not been forgotten by his former leaders, who would not spit on a soldier like him.

According to the anonymous executive cited earlier, Rob Pelinka and his deputies would have the necessary assets to bring him back to the City of Angels:

They wouldn’t go as far as sending a first-round pick in return, but they could offer (Jalen) Hood-Schifino and another contract if they’re willing to wait until Dec. 15. Or why not Max Christie, who has value on the market.

A former darling of Angelinos fans, Alex Caruso apparently maintains good standing in the Lakers offices. If their difficulties were to continue, the latter could therefore open negotiations with the Bulls.
