NBA Victor Wembanyama et Jeremy Sochan

It is not this Friday evening that the Spurs will end their losing streak. Gregg Popovich’s men have lost again, and the coach’s choices are more than ever called into question. The fault lies with the association between Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama.

Traveling to the Warriors this Friday evening, the Spurs failed to get the better of Steph Curry’s squad. An encouraging defeat with a score of 112-118, but above all very infuriating for the supporters, who are starting to believe that Gregg Popovich is doing everything to lose the matches.

In question ? The very dubious association between Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama.

If the two men get along perfectly well off the court, this is not as much the case on the pitch. Despite his 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists, the Frenchman can be frustrated.

Sochan and Wembanyama: 283 minutes (96.2 offensive efficiency)

Jones and Wembanyama: 167 minutes (113 offensive efficiency).

A teammate incompatible with Wembanyama?

Tre Jones, who is a real leader, forms a formidable duo with Wemby. He manages to easily find him in the racket and does not hesitate to pass him the ball to let him score. Quite the opposite of Sochan until now. Issue ? While the latter spends 33 minutes on the floor, Jones has not exceeded the bar of 17.

JJ Redick: “Why aren’t Spurs looking to go through Wemby? »

Richard Jefferson: “Because that would mean playing Tre Jones and they would start winning games”

The Spurs will cost him the rookie of the year at this level

Popovich has been stubborn with Sochan as a playmaker for weeks, while Jones is irresistible when paired with Wembanyama. A change seems more than logical, but it seems like the Spurs’ goal is to lose as much as possible. Too bad for a very ambitious basic Victor.

All the statistics will tell you: the duo played by Victor Wembanyama and Jeremy Sochan is not working at this moment.

Gregg Popovich still believes in improvement while Tre Jones seems to be the perfect choice to remedy that. We may know more in the coming days.
