But Curry didn’t want to see this as a tip against Brooks. “We know him and we know his reputation, but that doesn’t matter to me. Of course he talked a lot and we have a history with him, but at the end of the day I just want to play basketball. The result speaks for itself .”
However, Curry only got rolling in the fourth quarter; in the first 36 minutes, the All-Star only shot at the basket eight times and only had two field goals to his credit. Thanks to 14 points in the final section, the statline was commensurate with 24 points (6/14 3P), 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
NBA – Chris Paul accepts bench role with the Warriors
The other bigger storyline of the day was, of course, Chris Paul coming off the bench for the first time in his NBA career in over 1,300 games. But the 38-year-old didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. “I want to help the team win games,” CP3 stated matter-of-factly. “I have the chance to be in this league for a long time and things change over the years. He didn’t turn it into a circus and just nodded. When a great player like him makes a sacrifice like that, it’s a message to the entire team.”
NBA – Draymond Green critical after comeback for the Warriors
The reason for Paul’s bench role, which Kerr says he will also assume in the upcoming game in New Orleans, is the return of Draymond Green, who made his season debut after injuring his ankle in preseason.
