NBA star Jrue Holiday puts his career on hold to care for his sick wife

It is a normal story that happens in many families every day: a father or mother who abandons his professional career to take care of the family, but we are not used to hearing it from great athletes and famous personalities.

Jrue Holiday is a basketball player. He has been in the “Olympus” of the NBA for seven seasons and now he has decided to get off, put his career aside and focus on what is most important to him.

His wife, Lauren Cheney, star of the national soccer team and double Olympic medalist, has a brain tumor. Hard news known in the middle of her first pregnancy.

Jrue Holiday has not thought twice and has parked his career in the New Orleans Pelicans. He wants to focus on his wife and his son: “My family comes before basketball,” the 26-year-old basketball player told the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper.

“I am blessed to be able to play this sport and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me,” he says.

Husband and father above professional athlete. Holiday now has a much more important role. All that remains is for the child to be born (it is expected to be in October) and then his wife will operate on the benign tumor in her brain. There will be time for the NBA, now his family can’t wait. “We just ask for his prayers, really pray for my family,” says Jrue.
