NBA – Spurs honest about Victor Wembanyama: “He’s frustrated”

Victor Wembanyama en conférence de presse pour les Spurs

For the second time this season, Victor Wembanyama missed a Spurs match due to injury.

Nothing very serious according to the medical staff, but there is no question of taking the slightest risk. You can imagine that the Frenchman is mixed.

On the bench this Tuesday evening, due to ankle pain, Victor Wembanyama did not have the opportunity to face Giannis Antetokounmpo for the first time.

A disappointment for the Frenchman, even if San Antonio crosses paths with Milwaukee again on January 4.

Wemby should be recovered from his injury by then, especially since it is not very serious.

Behind the scenes, some insiders have already explained that Victor should return on Thursday to oppose DeMar DeRozan’s Bulls.

We can see his absence as a simple precaution for Spurs and that is understandable.

It must be said that last week, Wembanyama came close to suffering a huge ankle injury… before recovering without any problem.

Victor Wembanyama frustrated?

The problem ultimately is that Wembanyama is a competitor.

If he understands and respects the Spurs’ decision, good luck asking him to stay on the sidelines while he feels capable of playing.

In front of the media this Tuesday at training, Keldon Johnson and Zach Collins confirmed that Wemby was a little frustrated.

Especially since the Spurs lost a little later.

Keldon and Zach on Wemby after practice: “I think Victor is frustrated because he can’t play,” Collins explained. “I can’t speak for him, but he’s a competitor, so he wants to be on the field.” Victor is out this evening with ankle pain but he should return Thursday evening in Chicago.

There is no doubt that Wemby is frustrated.

His return on Thursday shows that his problem is absolutely not serious, but Spurs believe that letting the Frenchman breathe from time to time is not a bad thing either.

And they are certainly not wrong on the subject given the efforts required.

Hit in the ankle and forced to watch his teammates lose from the bench, yes: Victor Wembanyama is undoubtedly frustrated.

He will be keen to return on Thursday with the firm intention of bringing victory to Chicago. The Bulls have been warned.
