NBA – Nico Batum makes a cash decision on Wembanyama: “I can’t…

Les joueurs NBA français Victor Wembanyama (gauche) et Nicolas Batum (droite)

An attentive spectator of the evolution of Victor Wembanyama for years, Nicolas Batum can closely follow his prowess now achieved in the NBA. He also spoke at length about a major debate surrounding his young compatriot.

While waiting to cross his path as a 76ers player, he has already faced him with the Clippers and took the opportunity to sign a viral action against him. Nicolas Batum, however, did not wait for this match against Spurs to discover Victor Wembanyama.

Because if he has not yet had the opportunity to play in the French team alongside him, that has not stopped him from carefully studying his game, and therefore from knowing it in detail.

Nico Batum’s big comparison on Wembanyama

As captain of the Blues, Batum carefully monitors the performances of the young French players called sooner or later to defend the colors of the selection.

He has been following Wembanyama for several years and has had time to get an idea of his immense potential. As such, he brought the young San Antonio interior closer to four NBA stars in Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson:

Nicolas Batum told me that Victor Wembanyama is a mix of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, Rudy Gobert & Kristaps Porzingis:

“I really can’t compare him to just one player, but you can see in him a little bit of AD, of Porzingis and Giannis. In certain sequences, he approaches several players at once. I think he’s going to be a better version of Porzingis.”

First three names prestigious enough to make this speech very flattering for Wemby. Nico, however, was not finished and also brought him closer to Rudy Gobert with strong words:

Nicolas Batum: “The first time I saw him, Victor already attached a lot of importance to defense. I’m pretty sure he’s thinking, ‘Rudy’s a great defender but I want to be even better than him,’ because he’s more versatile in that area. Rudy is excellent but I find Victor to be more versatile.”

Regardless, in Batman’s eyes, looking for comparisons for Victor would make little sense, since the latter is about to forge his own path:

Nicolas Batum: “He has all the potential to be as incredible as he wants to be, but at the end of the day, he’s going to emerge as a unique player and that’s something special. ”

Kristaps, Davis, Giannis, Gobert: so many players that Victor Wembanyama would already be close to according to Nicolas Batum. At only 19 years old, the French prodigy has not yet finished expanding his range, nor developing a new standard of excellence.
