NBA – In the midst of a series of defeats, Wembanyama’s honest statement: “It makes me…
After a rather interesting start, things quickly deteriorated for San Antonio, which has suffered a series of defeats in recent matches. Cornerstone of the squad, Victor Wembanyama was logically questioned about the poor form of his team and the French pivot made a rather interesting remark.
With a 3-2 record to start the campaign, the Spurs were a pleasant surprise. Highly anticipated because of the advent of Victor Wembanyama, Gregg Popovich’s men are one of the most publicized teams in the NBA this year. Except that as a result, no one misses the struggles they are going through recently, they who have suffered no less than five consecutive losses.
To tell the truth, it’s not just the record (3-7) and the 13th place in the West that can give cause for concern in Texas, even if we shouldn’t expect much from San Antonio this season. In the game too, there are quite a few problems to correct: 2nd in the league in assists with almost 30 per game, Wemby & co. However, they are only 15th in scoring. So there is some ball movement, but not many points…
Besides that, the Spurs also have the worst defense in the league with more than 124 units conceded every night. And this despite the enormous impact of the V in his half of the field, that is to say… No wonder then that the setbacks accumulate to this point, even if it does not disturb the first pick of the draft more than that. Asked after losing to the Heat, the former Mets responded frankly:
Wembanyama not worried by the defeats which follow one another
Wemby on how he’s handling the losing streak: “It just motivates me more. Nobody in the locker room is putting their head down and giving up, so we’re here and we’re ready.”

Wemby on handling the losing streak: “It just motivates me even more. No one in the locker room lowered their heads or gave up their arms, so we’re here and we’re ready.
A real leader’s speech from the big man, the kind that makes us forget once again that he is still only 19 years old. And at the same time, it’s difficult to see things differently.
We expected it even before the launch of the campaign, San Antonio was not going to win a lot of games. In the absence of veterans to supervise the young people, the latter would have to learn on the job and that inevitably meant losing a lot. The important thing is to learn the necessary lessons in order to progress as quickly as possible. Judging by Gregg Popovich’s analysis, it would already be well on its way.
Champion of France with ASVEL then finalist with Boulogne-Levallois, Victor Wembanyama discovered for the first time the incessant series of defeats at the professional level. Nothing to worry him too much, however, as he remains confident in the Spurs. An impressive maturity which must be saluted.
