The Lakers largely lost this Saturday against the Magic (120-101), despite the record performance of Anthony Davis. The star interior also spoke about the disappointing performance of his team after the match and did not mince his words.
The Lakers have just suffered their third defeat of the season against an Orlando team that seemed more modest on paper. An inevitably infuriating result, especially taking into account the new big match made by Anthony Davis. Author of 28 points, 13 rebounds and no less than 7 blocks (!) on the Magic floor, the star interior placed himself once again in the wake of Shaquille O’Neal:
Anthony Davis tonight:
28 PTS
13 REB
7 BLK (!!)

Anthony Davis rails after Lakers setback
Currently holding a balanced record (3-3), the Lakers do not display the level of play of a title contender. This Saturday’s meeting thus served to accentuate the team’s glaring shortcomings and caused the great dismay of LeBron James and Darvin Ham. Davis obviously joined the two men and targeted the areas of improvement to work on to perform better:
The Lakers have been out scored 210-139 in the 1st Q through the first six games of the season.
The Lakers have also been outscored 117-54 in second-chance points through the first six games.
AD: "That's what's going to lose us games. We know our problem. We got to fix it."— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) November 5, 2023
The Lakers conceded 210 points against 139 scored in the first quarters of the first six games of the season. They have also conceded 117 points against 54 scored on second chances during these six games. AD: “That’s what’s going to make us lose matches. We know our problem. We need to resolve it. ”
The Purple & Gold may be struggling at the start of the 2023-2024 season, but Unibrow is certainly not the player most to blame, since he has performed quite satisfactory so far with 26.3 points per game and 3.7 blocks on average. His teammates will therefore have to get in tune at all costs in order to be able to compete with the other big names in the league in the months to come.
The Lakers are struggling to convince and have had a mixed start to the season. Anthony Davis assures that his team is aware of its weaknesses, but we still need to know how to fill them. And for now, Darvin Ham has not found the cure.
