NBA – “He reminds me of LeBron”: The little-known common point between Wembanyama and the King revealed
Often compared to LeBron James because of his hype, Victor Wembanyama finally met him on the NBA courts, without however being able to face him. On the other hand, it gave rise to a new revelation about a breathtaking similarity between the two men.
For his very first match against the Lakers, this Wednesday, Victor Wembanyama delivered a monumental performance, and made sure to maintain the suspense. Despite this, it was the Californians who ultimately won (122-119).
And although LeBron James was left to rest to treat his left calf, the audience at the Frost Bank Center was treated to an anthology duel between the Frenchman and Anthony Davis.
While the latter allowed his team to win thanks to his 37 points and 10 rebounds, the young Spurs star stood up to him by accumulating 30 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks. It was well worth the compliments from the Unibrow after the meeting. Present on his team’s bench, LBJ was well placed to witness this mano a mano… and unintentionally found himself at the heart of the discussions.
The unique routine that Wembanyama shares with LeBron
Even before he arrived in San Antonio, Wembanyama was already the subject of comparisons to LeBron. And what could be more logical given the enthusiasm concerning him, worthy of that which surrounded the King 20 years earlier. However, according to Cedi Osman, this rapprochement would not stop there. At a press conference, the former Cleveland player revealed the other point in common between his ex-leader and his current teammate:
The way Victor prepares during training and before matches… It speaks to his professionalism. He arrives earlier than the others, he does his stretches, gets a massage, he takes a few shots, then gets ready for training. I can tell you he reminds me of LeBron.
It’s no secret that LBJ’s work ethic is a benchmark in the NBA. But in this area, he may have finally found someone to compete with him.
In any case, this is what Osman suggests, who can be taken at his word. After all, before having the chance to rub shoulders with Wemby at the Spurs, the Turk wore the same colors as the Chosen One with the Cavaliers. Fans of each are therefore likely to maintain comparisons between the two men, whose averages as rookies have also proven to be very similar so far:
