Les stars de la NBA, Dennis Rodman (gauche) et Damian Lillard (droite)

Having simply arrived in the NBA via the 2012 Draft, Damian Lillard obviously did not have the opportunity to meet Dennis Rodman.

On the other hand, an event organized by the league allowed him to come into contact with the legendary interior, which left him with a… unique memory.

Despite his most extravagant personality, he is paradoxically quite rare in the industry.

Indeed, Dennis Rodman remains away from the NBA courts most of the time, on which he has appeared very little in recent years.

One of the latest occurrences dates back to February 2022, when he notably met Michael Jordan as part of the ceremony dedicated to the 75th Anniversary Team:

The singular impression left by Rodman on Lillard

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the league decided to honor its greatest icons on the sidelines of the All-Star Game.

A current star such as Damian Lillard was able to meet some of his youth idols, including Rodman and Jordan.

It was first of all about the latter that he spoke with strong words during his appearance on the Knuckleheads Podcast:

When we found ourselves in the halls of the room, we saw that MJ was walking in our direction. He wasn’t even there for the photo shoot, he had just arrived. There were more cameras around him alone than all of us.

That’s when I saw the difference and said to myself, “Man, this guy is the GOAT!” » Like, when he walked, everyone’s eyes were on him. He shined the light on him.

If Mike distinguished himself with his legendary aura on this occasion, his former Bulls teammate also achieved it… but in a completely different way. Lillard remembers:

He didn’t care. He was the only one who did not wear the jacket offered to the 75 members of the anniversary team.

He just didn’t care. Everyone was trying to tell him, “Put on your jacket!” ”, but he didn’t really care.

In the end, Rodman did indeed end up agreeing to wear the famous blazer to enter the field at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

An honor which, however, did not seem to provoke great emotion in him, any more than his reunion with MJ.

Stunned by the charisma and magnetism of Michael Jordan during the ceremony dedicated to the 75th Anniversary Team, Damian Lillard could not say the same about Dennis Rodman. Once again, The Worm has left its mark… in its own way.
