NBA – Celtics coach’s viral opinion on white players: “I can’t…

NBA (DR)

Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic may well be among the best players on the planet, but White maintains a rather particular image in the NBA microcosm. The Celtics coach made a pretty hilarious observation on this subject this Monday.

One of the proofs of the globalization of basketball is the number of white players who now succeed in establishing themselves in the NBA. Exceptions in the 90s, they are now a standard of excellence like Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic, two credible candidates for the MVP title. We can even add Kristaps Porzingis to this elite, he who has been shining since his arrival at the Celtics.

And he is not the only “Caucasian” very prominent in Massachusetts, since winger Sam Hauser is a real revelation. For his third season in the league he averages 9.3 points and 3.2 rebounds, all at 45% success behind the arc! After the victory against the Knicks, his coach Joe Mazzulla made a crazy observation about his nugget, and white players in general.

Joe Mazzulla talks about his Sam Hauser revelation

I think Sam Hauser is a much better defender than people think. I can’t say why otherwise I’ll have problems.

NBA players, mostly African-American, have been explaining this for years: they have always been taught to attack white defenders, supposed to be less athletic, strong, and therefore less dangerous on that side of the court. Joe Mazzulla clearly refers to this mentality well anchored in people’s minds by evoking his revelation Sam Hauser, often targeted. Unfortunately for the Knicks, the winger is not the stereotypical white player…

The Knicks attacked him all evening. I thought they would have learned by now. Hauser was already good on defense last season.

I’ll say it, it’s because he’s white

White people are dangerous

No, white players are not defensive studs like many NBA players still think. Sam Hauser and Kristaps Porzingis are excellent examples in Boston, who are distinguished by great activity on both sides of the field.
