NBA – Big discovery! New strong controversy about Victor Wembanyama at Spurs:
“We should never have thought about that”
If he fails to end San Antonio’s losing streak, Victor Wembanyama seems much stronger individually since he changed positions. A detail which did not escape the fans and they therefore launched a rather heated debate around the tricolor prodigy. It is understandable…
17 consecutive defeats. We’re not going to hide it, it’s difficult to be optimistic for the Spurs at the moment. In addition to being very bad in the game, they have one of the most complicated schedules in the league for the rest of the season.
For example, three of their next four games will be against the Lakers or the Bucks… which means that Victor Wembanyama will have to be at his best.
If it is not enough for the Texans to stop losing, the Frenchman has regained momentum after a little slump.
Perhaps not by chance since he seems unstoppable since he played center, after making his NBA debut as a power forward.
His production in this new role is simply astonishing… but it is also the source of many regrets for fans.
Wemby much more dominant as a pivot than as a power forward?
Victor Wembanyama has started at center two times this season.
In those 2 games, he has a combined 38 rebounds and 9 blocks.
Wemby at PF should’ve never even been a THOUGHT… #PorVida pic.twitter.com/tcICE0eXq6

Victor Wembanyama started two games as a center this season. During these two games, he compiled 38 rebounds and 9 blocks. We should never have thought about playing Wemby as a power forward…
Let us remember, however, that this is only a tiny sample and that nothing says that the V will be able to continue this momentum. However, it is clear that the nugget shone against big clients at position 5 in Nikola Vucevic and Alperen Sengun. The idea is therefore really to be explored on the San Antonio side… If some fans are therefore unhappy, others point out that it is not only the fault of the Spurs.
Wemby came in saying he didn’t want to play 5. Pop had to warm him up to it. I think the game against Jokic kinda opened his eyes to the possibility, and you could see it in how he talked about it after. We will most likely see it from here on given any of our best lineups start…

Wemby arrived saying he didn’t want to play center. Pop must have gotten him used to the idea. I think the Jokic match kind of opened his eyes to that possibility, and it showed in the way he talked about it afterward. We will most likely see him from now on given that one of our best lineups starts with him at center.
The Spurs needed to shake up their way of playing and the choice to shift Victor Wembanyama to the pivot seems to be paying off, at least on an individual level. All that remains is to shine collectively and get out of this spiral of defeats… and there, it’s immediately much more complicated for the Frenchman and his teammates.
