NBA – Big controversy about Wembanyama after the last Spurs match: “It was a crime.. The video proved it all

If San Antonio lost again last night against Minnesota, it was in particular the performance of Victor Wembanyama which scalded the spirits. Beyond his blatant clumsiness, the Frenchman found himself at the heart of a heated debate which saw the Texan franchise come under fire… and rightly so.

And 15 in a row for the Spurs, who suffered another defeat on the Timberwolves floor (102-94). The opposition between Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama in particular quickly ended.

While the triple DPOY finished the game with a huge double-double (16 points and 20 rebounds), the first pick of the last draft was much less to his advantage with only 12 points and 10 catches.

Beyond that, it was especially his shooting percentage that proved doubtful since the Habs only shot at 30.8 (3/13). A fairly recurring phenomenon since the start of the season and which has earned him criticism… but this time, the fans were especially outraged to see him so little highlighted by his teammates.

That he was only able to take 8 shots in the first three quarters annoyed more than one:

Wembanyama completely underused at Spurs?

They’re not building any offensive systems for Wemby it’s crazy to watch

The way Spurs are using Wemby in attack is criminal

La façon dont les Spurs utilisent Wemby en attaque, c’est criminel

I know Wemby is having a bad night shooting, but 8 shots is just criminal.

In the end, the former Mets finished the game with 13 shots. Only Cedi Osman attempted fewer than him among the Texan starters while Zach Collins, for example, finished with a 6/20 shooting.

The stats show, however, that the V is very often sought by his own people, but this is much less the case when choosing who is going to draw. Problematic when we are talking about a generational talent…

Yes, Victor Wembanyama was very clumsy against the Timberwolves and even more generally since the start of the season. Except that even in these conditions, he should be allowed a lot more shots than that. Spurs collective system or not, its situation still seems quite lunar for the moment.
