NBA Kevin Durant et Victor Wembanyama

author of a miracle victory last night against Phoenix, Victor Wembanyama pocketed a first feat under the colors of San Antonio. All while facing Kevin Durant, a player to whom he is increasingly compared by the media due to their similarities. The French prodigy also addressed the case of the Slim Reaper after the match.

In theory, Spurs should never have won this game. The Suns actually led throughout the game before the Texans got back in front… at the last second, literally. The cracking of the Cactus will have served them well in money time, as will the presence of Victor Wembanyama. Still expensive (5 ball losses, 2/6 at three points), the pivot did not deserve anything last night.

After all, the former Mets player had to face a certain Kevin Durant, himself an athletic freak with long stretches and incidentally one of the best scorers of all time. The 2014 MVP did not hesitate to welcome the Frenchman with a wild poster as well as 26 points on the clock. But as a good competitor, Wemby allowed himself to respond to the winger’s attacks head-on:

Victor Wembanyama amazed by KD’s level of play

It was inevitably an evening full of emotion for V since beyond the comparisons, he never hid the fact that he identified enormously with the Slim Reaper and that he was downright his favorite player. Here he is now doing battle with the former Warriors on the floor! Asked about him after the final whistle, the big man from France was also full of praise for his illustrious elder:

He’s really a problem on the pitch, his teammates look for him a lot and they also make him a problem in the way they organize the game. They try to find him. I know I’ve only played against him once and haven’t seen everything from him or the rest of the players in the league, but I think he’s right at the top of the list of the most difficult players to defend.

For his first match against a legend like Kevin Durant, Victor Wembanyama clearly did well despite some imperfections in his game. The duels to come between these two athletic freaks promise to be very fascinating in any case. Everyone wants more, us first and foremost.
