Victor Wembanyama contre LeBron James

Back on the court this Friday evening, LeBron James was able to rub shoulders with Victor Wembanyama, a first in the NBA. We were treated to a spectacle, and a short reaction from the King on the Frenchman. The latter will appreciate it.

Without Anthony Davis, but with LeBron James, the Lakers failed to win in San Antonio this Friday. Defeat 115-129 for Darvin Ham’s men, clearly uninspired offensively and defensively. Proof that Davis’ contribution is underestimated, especially when the opponent is getting hot like Devin Vassell (36 points).

D’Angelo Russell and Cam Reddish were also out with injuries, meaning the Angelinos aren’t too disappointed after this loss. Quite the opposite of Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs, who finally manage to put an end to this series of 18 defeats. A little moment of respite for Gregg Popovich’s flock in a difficult period.

LeBron’s viral shot at Wembanyama

LeBron and Wemby didn’t really talk according to the first reports, but they were entitled to some sequences facing each other. The buzz action? A 3 point from the King in the corner on Victor, but with a particularity: he had to raise his ball well to avoid the counter. This is what you need to do to avoid being punished by the French.

A few minutes after the buzzer, in the locker room, LeBron spoke quickly about Wembanyama, before returning to this shot:

LeBron James on Victor Wembanyama: “I don’t necessarily have much to add after what I’ve already said about him. He’s a special talent and Spurs have a real good player in him.”

James (on his shot): “I just tried to get him to lower his hand a little because I know he has a big wingspan, and I know he can block a shot in that area. I managed to aim a little higher and get that shot in.”

For his first official confrontation against LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama will be able to congratulate himself on the victory. A relief for the Texan franchise, which really needed it at the moment. Hopefully it continues for them from now on.
