A talent-laden team like the Milwaukee Bucks is not supposed to have less trouble collecting wins, especially the winnable ones.

However, that has not been the case so far for the Bucks as they recently suffered a shocking defeat when they bowed to the undermanned Chicago Bulls, 113-120, on Thursday night.

With the loss–Milwaukee’s sixth in 19 games, Giannis Antetokounmpo reminded his team that talent alone is not enough to win games.

“We cannot rely on our talent every time, you know?” Antetokounmpo told The Athletic.

Outplayed by an undermanned foe

Antetokounmpo was visibly upset that the Bucks failed to get the job done even if the Bulls played without their two stars Zach LaVine (left ankle sprain) and DeMar DeRozan (right foot soreness).

“We didn’t deserve to win the game. And sometimes the basketball gods take care of the game, you know what I’m saying? I think Chicago played harder than us, they moved the ball better than us, they executed better than us, they defended better than us. So, they definitely deserved the game more than us,” Giannis said.

The Bucks came in as winners of three straight games.

Giannis and Dame Lilliard have also been scoring at will prior to the match.

Not in their usual deadly selves

Before taking on the Bulls, the two All-Star teammates have scored 30-plus points each in the last three games. They were the first teammates to do so 1963.

But against the Bulls, a squad not really known for their defense, Giannis scored 26 points, while Lillard just tallied 18 markers.

Lillard was a non-factor in the second half where he committed five of his team-high seven turnovers while going 0-of-16 from the field.

“We did not play at our best,” said Giannis.

As bad as they played, the Bucks still had a chance to win the game when they took a three-point lead with only five seconds left.

But Alex Caruso hit a spectacular three-pointer that forced overtime, and the Bulls went on to win the match via a 14-7 scoring run the extra period.

“We got to that position and we didn’t have to be in that position, in my opinion. But at the end of the day, if you look at the whole game, we did not deserve to win this game. We didn’t play well. We did not respect the game,” Giannis said.
