The victory of the Los Angeles Lakers against the Indiana Pacers in the first NBA Cup final was not just another one for three players on the Los Angeles squad.

To ensure that the mid-season competition had even more interest than achieving wins for the overall count of the regular phase, the NBA established a system of financial incentives for all players.

Depending on the team’s final position, players on the roster would receive a bonus of $500,000, regardless of playing time.

This amount of money may be insignificant for players with a maximum contract, but there are young people and two-way players for whom it solves the season financially.

What LeBron said to his Lakers teammates before the finals

In the last few hours, a story emerged that speaks highly of LeBron James. The King promised his three Los Angeles Lakers teammates on dual contracts that he would win the tournament for them.

Just before taking the court for the grand finale with the Pacers, LeBron told Alex Fudge “This is for you, Fudge. This is for you, for D’Moi Hodge. This is for everyone. I’ll take care of it, no worry”.

“I trusted him and now we are here. Just knowing that he is thinking about us is a blessing. Not many people are like that. That just says who LeBron is.”
