Lebron James is “super excited” to see his oldest son Bronny make his collegiate debut Sunday, nearly five months after suffering cardiac arrest at practice.

Bronny, 19, is expected to play in Sunday’s game for the University of Southern California after missing the team’s first eight games of the season.

The NBA legend’s son spent two days in the hospital in late July after suffering cardiac arrest at practice, a frightening moment that made headlines around the sports world for days.

Now, Bronny appears set to lace up for Sunday’s game after returning to practice with his Trojans teammates this week. The teenager was fully cleared to return late last month.

“It’s a big milestone for our family, for sure,” James, 38, told reporters after Thursday night’s Los Angeles Lakers win over the New Orleans Pelicans. “It’s another step for him on his journey in his basketball career.”

The four-time NBA Champion said he’s “looking forward to that for sure.”

“Super excited for that moment,” James added.

The four-time NBA MVP hasn’t hid how excited he’s been to watch his son’s career begin to take off. After Bronny graduated from high school and committed to the USC men’s basketball program in May, James told Spectrum SportsNet it was “one of the best days of my life.”

“First of all, congratulations to Bronny on his decision he made. I’m super proud of him, our family is proud of him,” James said. “For me personally, it’s even more special to me because it’s the first time someone out of my family to go to college. Obviously, I didn’t go to college.”

He added: “It’s just a proud moment to see my son go to college, and he’s the first one to go college in my family. Super duper proud, super emotional, but just super duper excited and happy for his journey.”

In recent days amid rumors that Bronny was gearing up for his season debut with USC, James had even told teammates he’d sit out if his son’s first game of the season coincided with a Lakers regular season game.

“I already told my teammates that if they play on the same day we’re playing, I’m going to have to catch them the next game,” James told reporters last week, according to local NBC 4.

“Family over everything,” the Lakers star added. “But definitely got to see Bronny’s first game whenever he’s cleared and ready to go.”

Luckily, Los Angeles does not play Sunday afternoon when USC is set to take on Long Beach State with Bronny on the roster.

USC is currently 5-3 without Bronny, who returned to class in late August and has been doing “extremely well” throughout his recovery, according to head coach Andy Enfield.
