Following their miraculous win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs picked up another victory over the Suns on Thursday night. They jumped out to an early lead, and while Phoenix was able to battle back and make it a game in the fourth quarter, the Spurs kept their composure and picked up the win.

After the win, Kevin Durant was asked about the comparisons made between him and Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama. The game prior, Wembanyama even said that Durant was his favorite player to watch. However, despite all that, Durant pushed back at the notion that the two are similar.

He said that Wembanyama is “his own player.”

“I know that we both skinny, and I’m sure he said he watched me growing up. But he’s his own player,” Durant said via Mike McDaniel of Sports Illustrated. “I’m sure he’s watched so many great players in the league and tried to emulate just about everybody.”

Durant also praised the way Wembanyama carries himself on the court.

“There’s an enthusiasm with the game,” said Durant. “You can tell on the TV and playing against him. He’s his own player, person. He’s gonna create his own lane, much different than anybody who’s ever played. You can try to compare but he’s gonna carve out his own lane.”

Wembanyama put up 38 points and 10 rebounds against the Suns, earning his second win in a row against Durant – one of the players he grew up watching.
