Jrue Holiday’s incredible defensive stat

During the game against the Knicks, Jrue Holiday produced a great defensive performance

Jrue Holiday Boston Celtics

Tonight the Boston Celtics regular season began and both Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday had the chance to make their debut in a Celtics jersey in this new season.

Kristaps, together with Jayson Tatum, was the protagonist of the victory against the New York Knicks, in which he scored 30 points and 4 blocks. On the contrary, Holiday did not have a great offensive impact and in fact only scored 9 points and 2 assists.

Despite the poor performance on offense, Jrue Holiday had an incredible defensive impact. In addition to the three blocks which are a lot for a point guard, the statistics that are most astonishing are those of the shooting percentages of the three “stars” of New York, Brunson, Randle and Barrett, when marked by Holiday.

In fact, when Jrue marked one of these three players, Jalen Brunson shot 4 times without ever scoring, while RJ Barrett and Julius Randle shot 4 and 10 times, both scoring only once.

Being able to mark players so different from each other testifies to the versatility of Jrue Holiday, who in addition to having excellent timing and defensive instincts is also particularly tall and robust for his role.

All this goes to demonstrate once again the enormous defensive impact that Holiday can bring and has always brought to his teams, especially in excellent game systems like that of the Boston Celtics, who may have found the key in these two new players for success.
