Getting drafted into the NBA can quite literally change someone’s life. Many athletes have gone from living in poverty during their childhood to making millions of dollars after playing in the NBA.

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum is one such player. During his childhood, Tatum didn’t have much to his name. But look at him now, he is leading his team to their first NBA Finals appearance in a long time.

Additionally, the Celtics are expected to be the favorites in this amazing Finals series against the Golden State Warriors. Anyway, speaking of Tatum’s financial struggles and tough childhood, he recently revealed about it in an interview.

“It’s crazy to think where I am now and I can never forget where I came from. I remember coming home and it being a pink eviction notice on the house and my mom crying the whole night and me being upset. I mean, we had a blue tarp on the whole right side of the side because we didn’t have money to fix the roof.”

In the above-mentioned interview, Tatum also talked about the struggles of not having enough to eat on some nights. That’s when his neighbor Donna helped him and his mom.

Kudos to Donna for being a great person in today’s world and taking care of Jayson Tatum and his mom. If it weren’t for her, we may never have seen Tatum flourish into the talent that he is today.

Speaking of that talent, Tatum will have a huge burden on his shoulders in the 2022 NBA Finals. The Celtics will have high hopes from their All-Star forward. But so far, looking at Tatum’s performances in the 2022 postseason, he has had some good games mixed with some very terrible games.

In order to win the title, he will need to find the bucket consistently in each game of the NBA Finals.
