Incredible quote about Michael Jordan emerges of high-school LeBron James prophesying his own greatness

The LeBron James lying meme is a popular viral joke among NBA fans.

The meme originated from a old clip of James predicting Kobe Bryant was going to score 70 points on the night he scored 81. Fans noticed a pattern of LeBron’s ‘creative embellishments’ over the years and turned it into a meme about him predicting all sorts of world events.

Despite the prominence of the LeBron lying meme, James's old statement about Michael Jordan has become his own reality this season

However, it appears one of James’s old predictions was actually right on the money.

A quote from a teenage LeBron about Michael Jordan actually ended up foreshadowing his own greatness.

LeBron was a high-school student when he made the self-fulfilling prophecy in a 2002 SLAM diary entry. His statement was in regards to MJ’s comeback with the Wizards at the time.

It read: “A man 38 years old and still averaging 25-plus points? I give more props to him than anybody right now.”

Now, the quote has emerged on social media with NBA fans in awe at how prophetic LeBron’s words were.

“Wow… he foreshadowed what he was gonna do,” one fan said.

“Bro manifested goat level greatness,” another commented.

“This goes so hard now lol,” a third wrote.

“LeProphet,” a fourth joked.

LeBron, who in his 21st NBA season, is currently living up to his own wise words. Through eighteen games this season, the 38-year-old Lakers star is averaging 25.1 points per game, and recently added another record to his ever-growing NBA resume.

In a 44-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers – the largest of LeBron’s career – he became the league’s all-time leader in minutes played.

Taking into account both regular-season and postseason games, James has now played 66,319 minutes in his career, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s total of 66,297 minutes.

Most will agree LeBron has officially passed Kareem in the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ list, and is now chasing one man – Michael Jordan.

The LeBron James Family Foundation recently paid homage to ‘His Airness’ in the new LeBron James Museum in Akron, Ohio.

The museum includes several pieces of memorabilia that James had in his childhood apartment, including a photo of a young LeBron with Jordan.

LeBron James was 16 years old when he first met Jordan, an experience Maverick Carter, LeBron’s longtime friend, manager and business associate, described as ‘like listening to God speak’.

In his personal journal, LeBron wrote: “I didn’t get to play with Mike, but I did get some run with a lot of the other NBA guys, and I talked to Jordan a little bit.

“He didn’t really give me any advice, he just told me to keep my head on straight. We all went out to dinner at his restaurant — the steak and mashed potatoes were tight.”
