Is Henry Cavill going cosmic?
Is Henry Cavill finally on his way to the MCU? A new rumor suggests that Marvel wants him to play a role in the upcoming Nova series for Disney Plus.
Henry Cavill made waves last summer when the former Superman actor made his MCU debut as the Cavillrine in Deadpool and Wolverine. While mostly used by Marvel to take a quick jab at their competition over at Warner Bros. Discovery, it got fans’ mouths watering at the idea that Cavill may finally be making his way back to the big screen as a superhero after so many years.
Luckily for fans, Marvel is seemingly intent by doing right by their tease. A rumor from scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that the studio does want to bring Henry Cavill into the MCU by way of the upcoming Nova series on Disney Plus. While no role was explicitly stated, it’s likely that Cavill isn’t being eyed for Richard Rider given how blasé the account has been at naming actors up for the role up to this point.
Who Could Henry Cavill Play In The Nova Series?
Given the Nova series is set to give fans a much deeper look into the cosmic side of the MCU, there’s plenty of characters that Henry Cavill could play if this rumor is true. Perhaps the most popular among fans is Gladiator, one of Marvel’s Superman parodies who has worked alongside the Nova Corps during multiple story arcs such as Infinity Wars and Annihilation.
However, it’s also possible that Marvel wants to subvert expectations by having Henry Cavill play a villain in the MCU. The main rumor around the antagonist for the Nova series is that Annihilus will serve as the project’s big bad. However, characters like Powerhouse and Archon may be better fits for Henry Cavill given their more human-like proportions that would be easier to market to fans of the former Superman star.
