Captain America’s Original Phase 4 Costume Confirmed In Brave New World Set Photos

Anthony Mackie returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one of his better costumes through new Captain America: Brave New World set images. While 2024 is slim on Marvel Studios movies, there will be plenty of Marvel movies releasing in 2025. One of them is Captain America: Brave New World, now focusing on Sam Wilson as the titular character.

As Captain America: Brave New World is undergoing reshoots, Just Jared managed to get new set photos for the Phase 5 movie. While it remains to be seen what is happening in the scene, Mackie is seen wearing his Captain America costume that he debuted with in The Falon & The Winter Soldier TV show.

What Captain America: Brave New World Set Photos Suggest About The Movie’s Suit Story

The latest Captain America: Brave New World set photos do raise questions regarding how Sam’s old suit is factoring into the overall story. While it is unclear what the context is of the blue-and-black costume, the appearance of the outfit from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier could either reveal that Sam begins the movie in his original costume, or that he returns to it later in Captain America: Brave New World.

It is possible that it is meant to be seen as a symbolic move of Sam going on his own path, especially as he and U.S. President Ross seem to be at odd ends. It’s also possible that the reason Sam’s suit from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier is back is the result of some of the negative reception to the new costume that is getting introduced in Captain America: Brave New World.

The reveal of the new suit saw complaints that it felt like the uniform from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier was quickly discarded, exacerbating the view that the MCU does too many costume changes rapidly between projects. Because of that, Marvel Studios may have found an organic story reason to bring the old costume back after taking in some of the public reception.
