Andrew, a Royal Navy helicopter pilot during the 1982 Falklands War, spends hours on an app watching aircraft taking off and landing across the globe — including from nearby Heathrow.

He even projects the flights from his computer on to a large screen so he can follow them in real time, a visitor told the Daily Mail.

Last week The Sun on Sunday exclusively revealed the Duke of York, 64, faces additional pressure to quit Royal Lodge after the King laid off its ten-strong security team.

Charles has been funding private guards at the 31-room Windsor pile since Andrew’s £3million-a-year armed cops were removed in 2022 amid a US sex abuse case.

But Charles, 75, has told the guards they will not be needed from the autumn.

The tension between the pair came as they spent part of last week at Balmoral, where the Royal Family has gathered for their Scottish summer holiday.

A friend said it is unlikely the King, being treated for an unspecified cancer, and Andrew discussed Royal Lodge.

They said: “Charles does not like confrontation at the best of times and especially when he is on holiday.

“This summer the King needs rest more than ever. The cancer treatment has been tiring and it makes him often fall asleep.

“I can’t think of anything guaranteed to make him go off the deep end than to have Royal Lodge brought up.”

Andrew inherited the house in 2002 on the death of the Queen Mother and relies on the King for a living allowance of £1million a year.
