Machine Gun Kelly and Christopher Reeves weren’t the only famous figures referenced in Em’s AI-assisted confrontation with his alter ego.

Eminem and his alter ego Slim Shady referenced Drake and LeBron James during their AI-assisted one-on-one interview.

The special conversation, conducted in collaboration with Complex for the latest cover story, included several pop culture references, such as the late Christopher Reeves, Em’s beef with Machine Gun Kelly, and more. Two references that might’ve flown under the radar were tied to LeBron and Drake.

Em and Shady discussed the Ozempic craze sweeping the nation, and the latter stated he heard the weight loss drug has “side effects of jealousy.” Keen-eared fans will remember Drake said the same thing on his Kendrick Lamar diss song “Family Matters,” rapping, “Ozempic got a side effect of jealousy and doctor never told y’all n***as.”

As for the nod to LeBron and Drake, Em and Shady channeled the infamous segment during an episode of The Shop where the Toronto native revealed the NBA star told Drake he could “never like, let [LeBron] down” no matter how he moved during his beef with Pusha T.

“We’re family, you’re a brother of mine, you could never ever let me down—ever,” LeBron recalled telling Drake when the heat was on him to wage war on King Push.

Shady ridiculed Eminem for rapping “awfully hot coffee pot” during his BET Hip Hop Awards freestyle in 2017, saying Em texted him after the cypher.

“And what did I tell you?” Slim asked.

“You said like, I could never like, let you down,” Em said.

“Well, I fucking lied to your bitch ass,” Shady countered. “You’re nothing without me.”

The references didn’t stop there, as Em and Shady also dusted off Paul Rudd’s hilarious “hey, look at us…who would’ve thought?” moment from a 2019 episode of Hot Ones. The conversation between Eminem and Slim Shady comes from a cover story interview that was conducted by Complex’s Chief Content Officer Noah Callahan-Bever, where the relationship between the two is analyzed, and the Slim Shady character is finally put to rest, appropriately timed with the recently released album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
