Not everyone is a fan of the name they’re given at birth, and it seems even Meghan Markle much preferred a different name.

The Duchess of Sussex instead goes by her middle name, something even the most avid Royal Family fans don’t always know. Interestingly enough, Meghan’s real name is the same as her character in the popular television series Suits: Rachel.

Originally christened Rachel Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex seldom uses her first name in public. When it was time for Queen Elizabeth II to give her official consent to Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry, she highlighted the full names of the couple.

The late monarch said: “My Lords, I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”

The reason why Meghan doesn’t use her first name remains unclear, though she hasn’t kept the moniker a secret. In the acting world, many adopt a ‘stage name,’ perhaps one with a catchier ring to it.

A TikToker – who runs a Prince Harry and Meghan fan site on the platform called team_meghanxharry – recently revealed Meghan’s real name alongside some snaps of the former actress. Fans went wild for the information.

Fans have gone wild for her real name

One person said: “Princess Rachel Meghan Markle.” Another added: “Beautiful name Suit You, Ma’am.” Meanwhile, body language expert Inbaal Honigman gave an exclusive analysis to The Express regarding the dynamic between interviewer Jane Pauley and Meghan and Harry during their interview on CBS Sunday Morning.

Honigman, observed that Pauley seemed to maintain a “mental distance” from Meghan, yet showed more warmth towards Harry. She described details of the interaction, which included topics like mental health, noting: “Jane Pauley’s facial expressions when chatting with the royal pair are especially notable, as she appears to respond to Harry very differently to how she responds to Meghan.

“When listening to the Prince, she is seen smiling towards him with her lips parted, which makes the smile affectionate. Her eye contact with him is constant, so she’s listening to what he has to say.”
