It’s been 4 years since Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals.
It appears that Prince William and Harry are no closer to reconciling their bitter feud, despite their father, King Charles, holding onto hope. A well-known royal author has revealed that King Charles is “extremely sad” over the ongoing rift between his sons. As he continues cancer treatment, King Charles is more eager than ever to reconnect with his grandchildren, knowing that his time may be limited, hopefully not, and longing for family peace.
The 75-year-old monarch has found himself caught in the middle of the conflict between the Wales and Sussex households ever since Harry and Meghan Markle left royal duties behind and relocated to the U.S. in 2020. Four years later, the situation remains challenging for him. “The king is undoubtedly saddened by the situation with Harry and Meghan, but there’s a sense of frustration that he’s done what he can. Now, as king, there are many other matters to attend to,” stated Robert Hardman, royal historian and author of “Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story,” in an interview with the Mirror.
The decision is difficult because on the one hand he has William and his grandchildren with Kate, while on the other hand he has Harry who has tried to keep him linked to royalty and to turn his back on him would be to lose him forever and I don’t think anyone wants to lose their son. Also with the illness I guess King Charles wants to be at peace with himself, his family but mainly his children.
Some reasons behind the feud
Hardman noted that Charles is “hurt” and struggling with the expanding rift between the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex. Royal author and expert Tom Quinn mentioned that several issues need to be resolved for the brothers to reconcile. “The feud between Harry and William isn’t just because their wives don’t get along. It also stems from their troubled, conflict-ridden childhoods and Harry’s frustration with feeling like second place,” Quinn explained.
In related news, despite the lack of improvement in their strained relationship-the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly not invited to this year’s Trooping the Colour, and Harry did not meet his father during his recent visit to the U.K. The British monarch is said to be contemplating a visit to California. The reason? To spend time with his grandchildren. However, Prince William and Queen Camilla are reportedly not very supportive of this decision.
