Sarah Ferguson made a subtle dig at Meghan Markle, with sources suggesting it shows just how bad the Royal Family feud has gotten.

Despite Prince Harry’s close friendship with Sarah’s daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who has even visited him at his Montecito mansion, the Duchess of York threw shade at Meghan in an interview. She admitted: “I don’t really know Meghan, I haven’t really met her.”

This comes despite Meghan and Harry previously saying Sarah was one of the first royals who met the Duchess of Sussex. Sources have suggested Fergie might have made the comments to try and distance herself from the Sussexes.

“They were neighbors. Royal Lodge is basically next door to Frogmore and the Yorks and Sussexes met quite often. Sarah taught Meghan how to curtsey and there have been other meetings,” a source told The Express.

They also claimed Harry and Meghan were taken aback by Fergie’s comments and were puzzled by her behavior. The source suggested it also caused a rift between the Sussexes and Sarah’s daughters.

They explained that Eugenie and Beatrice “haven’t communicated with the Sussexes for a while now,” adding that they are “nowhere near as close as they once were.” Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank were thought to be close to Harry and Meghan.

However, the couple is also friends with Harry’s estranged brother Prince William and showed their support for the future king at a Buckingham Palace garden party in May. A source claimed: “Eugenie and Jack are very careful about what they say to friends because they don’t want to be seen as bad-mouthing Harry or Meghan.

“The friendship still exists but it isn’t the same close family tie they had prior to Harry’s move to America.” Luckily, one royal expert has suggested Harry won’t have been upset by Eugenie and Beatrice’s appearance at the party.

Richard Fitzwilliams told The Express Harry would even “expect them to attend”. He added: “Eugenie, particularly, he’s [Harry] got good relations with, we know that. There might be in some future time that it might be useful in healing the rift.”
