Meghan Markle May 'Give Blessing' For Her Kids To Visit King Charles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may finally allow King Charles to visit his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet after the Sussexes purchased a new European base, a source has claimed.

The Sussexes reportedly put down a deposit on a holiday home in Portugal earlier this month in a major sign the former working royals are seeking to spend more time in Europe.

Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie, who has remained close to the Duke of Sussex since he stepped back from royal duties, has a home in Portugal where she lives part time.

According to an unnamed royal insider who spoke to Closer magazine, the home is also at the centre of the Sussexes’ plans to remain linked to the monarchy.

‘To Di For’ podcast host Kinsey Schofield says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lush holiday house purchase is an “escape”.

“Buying in Portugal is a shrewd move for Meghan,” the source said.

“She’s deeply concerned that the Royal Family might manipulate Harry into reintegrating without her, so she needs to be proactive to make sure she’s not isolated or pushed to the sidelines.”

The decision to buy in Portugal has also paved the way for Meghan to “give her blessing” for King Charles to visit his grandchildren.

“Now, if it is deemed safe from a security standpoint, it’s likely she’ll give her blessing for Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to see their grandpa, King Charles, at some point,” the source said.

“And in terms of logistics, having a place in Portugal will make that easier, because Meghan can fly over with the kids without feeling trapped.”

The monarch, 75, is understood to have seen Archie a handful of times and has only met Lilibet once during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

The Duchess of Sussex still reportedly wants an apology for perceived mistreatment by the monarchy, which included allegations the institution failed to support her mental health and that senior members of the royal family inquired about Archie’s skin colour.

The decision to purchase in Portugal comes months after insiders claimed the Sussexes were looking to buy privately in London after losing their grace-and-favour home Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Royal author Tom Quinn claimed earlier this year that the King was privately encouraging his son to establish a second base in the UK to “circumvent” Meghan’s reluctance to visit London.

“King Charles has been putting pressure on Harry to do just this as he is angry that his only relationship with his grandchildren so far is via video calls, which Charles hates,” Mr Quinn told the Mirror newspaper.
