Seven months following the Reacher season 2 finale, the release window for season 3 has been reportedly released, and if that time period is correct, Reacher‘s future is brighter than ever. The Amazon Prime Video action crime TV show, developed by Nick Santora, is based on Lee Child’s Reacher book series, with Alan Ritchson starring as the protagonist, Jack Reacher. Reacher is a former military police major for the United States Army, now living as a self-proclaimed hobo. He travels from town to town throughout the country and constantly runs into trouble, forcing him into dangerous situations.

Every season adapts one of the books in Child’s series, and Reacher season 3’s story is set to depict Persuader, the seventh novel in the collection. Shortly following its premiere in 2022, Reacher broke records for Amazon Prime Video and received raving reviews from critics. Its success continued with its second season. So, it’s not surprising that Reacher has been renewed through season 3 (and will likely continue getting renewed in the years to come). However, since it’s a streaming show, the hiatus between seasons is expected to be long, delaying its progress. But that might change in 2025.

Reacher Season 3 Releasing In Early 2025 Would Make It More Like A Network Show

The Hiatus Between Seasons 2 & 3 Is Much Shorter Than Most Streaming Series

Even though Amazon Prime Video has yet to announce a release date for Reacher season 3, TVLine reports its premiere window is early 2025, a great sign for the action crime series. The Reacher season 2 finale dropped on January 19, 2024, meaning the season 3 premiere will likely arrive only one year later. A one-year hiatus between seasons is quite abnormal for streaming shows in this day and age. Most streaming series take almost two years to put out new seasons, and a quick turnaround for Reacher season 3 suggests it’s becoming more like a network TV show.

Most network series take only the summer off before returning to work. A fourth-month break is the norm, as most shows’ finales are released in May, while their premieres debut in September. Reacher‘s expected hiatus is still longer than that, but it’s much shorter than the majority of streaming projects. It certainly helps that the cast of Reacher began filming season 3 a month before season 2 premiered, shortening the length of the hiatus between the two. Hopefully, this trend will continue in future seasons.

Reacher season 3 will adapt Lee Child’s Persuader, and based on how the story plays out, I think I know which novel the fourth season will cover.

Reacher’s Success Would Continue

If Reacher can keep up with its yearly schedule, it can produce more seasons and adapt more of the novels in Lee Child’s series. The TV show’s success will likely continue (as long as its high quality remains the same or somehow improves). So, it wouldn’t be surprising if Amazon Prime Video wanted to continue this quick turnaround trend, meaning Reacher could have the legs to last for a long time.
