Meghan Markle has returned home to Montecito, California, after spending a few days supporting Prince Harry at the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver, Canada
Meghan Markle has returned to California after a whirlwind trip to Canada with Prince Harry for the 2025 Invictus Games.
The Duchess of Sussex was by her husband’s side for the opening of the games in Vancouver on Saturday but has since flown back home alone. Harry, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to support injured veterans, will remain in Canada until the competition ends on Sunday.
According to royal expert Hugo Vickers, Meghan likely returned to Montecito to be with their young children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, who did not attend the games with their parents.
In her opening speech for the Invictus Games on Saturday, Meghan mentioned that the children were “cheering” Harry on from California and were very “excited.”

Vickers told The Sun, “I think probably the main reason that she (Meghan) went back was to be with the children, because they obviously take that very seriously, and she had been away for four or five days.”
He also added that it’s crucial for Harry to focus on supporting the Invictus Games participants. “It’s a much better look for the Games to have him there on his own, rather than it being a Meghan Markle Show, which it has been to some extent at the beginning,” he said.
While Harry has grown accustomed to attending certain events without his wife, particularly following several solo trips abroad last year, he expressed to People magazine over the weekend how thrilled he was to have Meghan by his side for the competition.
He shared, “To have my wife here supporting me is amazing. I love that she’s by my side. It’s such an important piece to this whole adventure.”
Upon returning to their Montecito mansion, Meghan posted a charming photo on Instagram showcasing the gifts she received during her time in Canada for her children.
She shared the image on her Instagram story, captioning it, “A taste of Canada and the Invictus Games for our little ones! Cheering you on from home!”
