Kate Middleton’s Royal Comeback Continues: Princess of Wales to Attend Back-to-Back Events Honoring U.K. Veterans

Kate Middleton has been confirmed to attend two key events to honor veterans of the United Kingdom. After almost a year out of the public spotlight, Kate’s royal comeback continues.

Kate Middleton’s slow and steady return to the spotlight

Per Express, Kate Middleton’s attendance has been confirmed for two key events annually attended by senior members of the royal family. The Princess of Wales will accompany Prince William at the annual Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, and stand by his side on Remembrance Sunday.

The palace released a statement reprinted by the publication. It reads, “Members of the royal family will attend the annual Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. His Majesty The King became patron of the Royal British Legion earlier this year.”

“The festival will be attended by His Majesty The King, The Prince and Princess of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent.”

On Sunday, Kate will join members of the royal family at the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph. The Princess of Wales regularly attends these important U.K. events, but uncertainty surrounded her appearance this year as her health struggles continued through 2024.

Since announcing she had cancer in March of this year, the princess has only appeared at a handful of royal events. These key appearances are part of Kate’s slow and steady return to the spotlight.

What will the new year bring for Kate Middleton?

Kate Middleton completed chemotherapy treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer in September 2024. The princess shared details of her recovery on social media.

She said in a health update, posted to Instagram, that the last nine months have been “incredibly difficult.” She admitted, “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”

Kate added that she was looking forward to getting back to work and looked forward to taking on more public engagements “when I can.” Since that post, Kate and Prince William visited Southport Community Centre to meet with families and emergency workers.

The end of the year could place Kate Middleton back into the royal spotlight at her annual Christmas carol concert. She will likely walk with the royal family on Christmas Day after church services at St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, Norfolk.

However, 2025 remains up in the air. While Kate’s cancer treatment is complete, she is still under the watchful eye of her doctors one year after being diagnosed. She will likely continue to follow their advice regarding any further public appearances.

Prince William called 2024 ‘brutal’

The Prince of Wales discussed how “brutal” 2024 had been in a Nov. 7 interview held during a visit to Cape Town, South Africa. Prince William shared the difficulties of watching his wife Kate Middleton and father, King Charles, battle cancer.

The Prince of Wales released a statement as he reflected on the past year. William said watching two people he loved fight the disease was “dreadful.” He added, “It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.”

The prince continued, “But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”

He added that Kate is now doing well. However, he did not elaborate further on her recovery.

Kate Middleton’s upcoming appearances alongside Prince William will take place on Nov. 9 and 10.
