Princess Kate Middleton Reveals She Has Cancer in Video Statement

Now that Kate Middleton has officially put her chemotherapy treatment behind her, she should be celebrating. But according to one report, it seems she may not be thrilled by the way her big announcement was received when she shared the good news in an Instagram post last month. Kate does seem to read the comments online, and it doesn’t appear to be doing anything positive for her — especially not after the year she’s had.

Kate revealed that she had finished treatment in a video she shared on September 9

The video is beautifully put together, showing video footage of the more personal moments Kate has spent with her family during this time, from the Middletons to her own kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate said in the video. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

Not everyone was lining up to wish Kate well, though

As pointed out by In Touch Weekly (via Yahoo!), some people instead decided to use the video to point out how much privilege Kate had in getting top-notch medical care as a member of the royal family.

“It’s important this video highlights the vast reality that there are thousands of Brits going through cancer (not preventative) who don’t have the option not to work as she does & really struggling in a way Catherine never would including those who’ll bear the brunt of the winter fuel payments cap, ongoing cost of living crisis, food banks etc,” wrote one person on X (formerly Twitter). “This video, if anything, should inspire the kind of visible change that ensures any Brit with cancer diagnosis has the same options available to members of Royal Family.”

Another tweet read, “She hasn’t lifted a fingernail to help cancer sufferers or awareness or treatment access. Easy, low bar, simple wins. The Royal grift continues apace.”

Comments like these were reportedly difficult for Kate to swallow

One royal insider told In Touch that messages like these were a “brutal reminder” to Kate about the kind of criticism she receives as a public figure.
“As much as she’s trying to avoid reading anything negative, it’s hard to ignore that some people are saying she was ‘pulling a Meghan’ and that the video was over the top and too choreographed,” the source said.

Receiving backlash during a time like this has caused Kate ‘a great deal of suffering’

“She works so hard never to put a foot wrong, and that’s why she’s usually so universally praised,” the source said. “She doesn’t take it for granted and appreciates it, but she’s also gotten used to being one of the favorite members of the family as far as the public and press are concerned.”

But now, the tides have turned on Kate, and it doesn’t seem that she likes it very much.

It has also reminded her of the Mother’s Day photo editing fiasco

Earlier this year, Kate made headlines for the poorly edited photo she shared on Instagram of her with her kids in honor of Mother’s Day, and the source said it’s still haunting her.

“She admitted it was a mistake, that she never should have used photoshop, and took responsibility. But this time she doesn’t feel she deserves the criticism,” they insider said. “She’s genuinely stunned that people are trying to tear her down when she was so authentic and raw. It’s hurtful and she’s now retreating and reconsidering her stance on being so open going forward.”
