Kate Winslet revealed seriously gross toilet habit she had while filming Titanic

Now, everyone loves a bit of Titanic, but what fans might not realise is that there was a not-so romantic behind-the-scenes habit that Kate Winslet has since revealed.

The dramatised film depicting the 1912 sinking of the ship of the same name tells the story of Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his lover, Rose DeWitt Bukater (Winslet).

The pair embark on an affair behind Rose’s fiancé’s back in what is probably one of the most upsetting movies of all time.

Thanks to the James Cameron-directed blockbuster, people have been talking about it for decades since, particularly when it came to whether Jack could have hopped onto the door with Rose and managed to survive the sinking of the Titanic.

The romance film saw Jack meet his end in the icy water, however, Winslet actually admitted that although it looked like an entire ocean with thousands of people floating around them, it was filmed inside of ‘waist-high’ water in a tank.

While they were in that tank, the actor once admitted that she had to wade out of the water to go to the bathroom, but what she didn’t say at the time was that she was prone to peeing in the pool too.

She confessed to Rolling Stone in 1998: “Yes, I admit to sometimes peeing in that water. Because you wanted to get it right. You didn’t want to have to get out and go to the bathroom, which would take half an hour with corsets and dresses and all that sort of thing.”

Winslet added: “So yeah, I peed. I mean, it’s the same with a swimming pool – do you really about what’s in it?”

Winslet was only a 22-year-old at the time of the movie.

The cast were allegedly not allowed to relieve themselves as bathroom breaks would take too long and they needed to get the shoot right.

Even though she’s 48 now (soon to be 49 on the 5 of October) and much more experienced, she probably didn’t know what else she could have done in that situation back then.

So, Winslet and her on-screen love interest decided to take action.

According to Buzzfeed, they both took to peeing in the water tank and swam to opposite sides of the tank to pee.

DiCaprio reportedly said to Winslet: “Sweetie, sweetie, I gotta pee.”

During a recent Q&A at a screening of her upcoming film, Lee, in New York City, Winslet shared how she’d hop out of the tank at times to wee.

As per People, she said: “So first of all, I was regularly like, ‘Can I just go for a pee?’ And then I get up, get off the door, walk to the edge of the tank, sort of 20 feet away and I literally have to fling my leg over and climb up and come and get back on the door again. It’s terrible.”
