Agatha All Along Star Breaks Records as 4th MCU Actor Nominated for Golden Globes

Agatha All Along

The Golden Globe Awards have finally nominated another actor for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kathryn Hahn has been nominated for her role of Agatha Harkness in the Disney+ series, Agatha All Along.

This makes Hahn the fourth MCU actor to receive an acting nomination from the Golden Globes after Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision and Angela Bassett in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Per Deadline, Hahn will be competing in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy against Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), and Jean Smart (Hacks). Hahn’s nomination is the only one that Agatha All Along received from the Golden Globe Awards.

Unlike WandaVision, which competed in the Limited Series/TV Movie categories, Marvel Studios submitted Agatha All Along as a comedy series, leading many fans to ponder whether this meant that the studio was exploring a possible Season 2 for the well-received MCU installment. Agatha All Along‘s two-part finale saw the title witch helping Billy/Wiccan (Joe Locke) locate his missing brother Tommy’s soul and place it in the body of a drowning boy before sacrificing herself to save Billy from Death. The series ended with Billy and Agatha setting out to find Tommy, leaving the door open for the story to continue in either a second season of Agatha All Along or in a new MCU project.

Kathryn Hahn Isn’t Sure About MCU Return

Despite Agatha All Along‘s cliffhanger-esque ending, Hahn isn’t quite sure what the future holds for Agatha Harkness in the MCU. In November 2024, the actor shared that while she’d love to return as the fan-favorite witch again, nothing is in the cards yet. “Of course, I love this part and I love Joe Locke madly, and we’ll see what the future holds. In my mind, this was a beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye to this incredible character I had to play,” she stated. While a live-action appearance remains shrouded in doubt, an animated Agatha, who will be voiced by Hahn, is confirmed to appear in What If…? Season 3, with the character’s episode praised by Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum as “one of my favorite episodes ever done.”

Agatha Harkness is also a character that fans believe could be part of the rumored Midnight Sons project. While nothing has been officially announced yet, a Midnight Sons project is reportedly in development at Marvel Studios, according to insider Daniel Richtman. Marvel has introduced several supernatural/magical characters in recent years, and any number of them could be part of a Midnight Sons movie.

Agatha All Along fans will have to wait until Jan. 5, 2025, to find out if Hahn becomes a Golden Globe winner, with the awards ceremony set to air on that date on CBS and Paramount+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Nikki Glaser will serve as the host of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
