King Charles has launched a new Highgrove product and it looks like he’s set to go head-to-head with his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle and her business American Riviera Orchard.

A new product from King Charles’ Royal estate has hit the market, coinciding with the expansion of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand.

The 75-year-old has launched his Highgrove Royal Estate Honey, a product produced by bees on the Highgrove Estate – the private royal residence of Their Majesties. The organic honey, retailing at $30 for a 12oz jar, is described as “beautifully delicate” and “a fantastic gift for food lovers with its distinctive lime flavor”.

The product’s launch comes after the Duchess of Sussex started her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, which looks set to rival King Charles’ business by selling similar products. Meghan will offer fans a homeware collection and a line of butters, jams, and marmalades.

Her trademark application also indicated plans to expand into workout gear and dog treats. Meghan has already gifted close friends and select celebrities with jars of jam made from fruit grown in her Montecito mansion’s garden and it’s likely she could follow in Charles’ footsteps and make jam.

This latest honey offering from The King is produced by pollen gathered by “the myriad of bees who all live in the exclusively commissioned traditional British double-walled beehives on the estate”. According to the product description, these bees “forage on the avenues of limes” from late June to early July in the Highgrove Gardens.

The king sells a variety of preserves and savory foods through the Highgrove Shop, with proceeds going to charity. This new honey launch follows reports that Meghan is preparing to launch a rose wine for her brand.

Sources have claimed that Meghan, a known wine enthusiast who named her blog The Tig after her favorite red wine, is planning to launch a rose as her first commercial product. The trend of celebrities releasing their own wines has been on the rise, with Brad Pitt’s Miraval rose retailing at approximately $31 per bottle and Kylie’s pale pink wine earning praise from both wine connoisseurs and dedicated fans.

While it’s still unclear if Meghan and Harry have a vineyard on their luxurious Montecito property, insiders told the Daily Mail that the rose wine will be produced in California and is expected to be a significant revenue generator for the Duchess. It was also reported that the Sussexes enjoyed several glasses of rose wine during some of their initial dates, and rose was one of the drinks available at Meghan’s bachelorette party at Soho Farmhouse in 2018. There is yet to be an official release date for the products from American Riviera Orchard.
