Actor Aldis Hodge will lead the cast in the new crime thriller Cross on Prime Video. The series is based on best-selling author James Patterson’s Alex Cross (Hodge), introduced in his series of novels.

Created by showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins, Cross follows the story of detective, forensic psychologist, and family man Alex Cross. During his investigations, he delves into the minds of the victims and the killers to bring them to justice. In season 1, Cross and his partner John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa) track a serial killer while a treat from Cross’ past puts him in danger.

Hodge stars and produces the series, and additional cast members include Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.

Check out the official trailer for Cross below. The eight-part season premieres on Prime Video on Nov. 14.

Alex Cross has appeared in 32 of Patterson’s novels, two novellas, and three books focused on his son Ali. Morgan Freeman portrayed Cross in Kiss the Girls (1997) and Along Came a Spider (2001), and in 2012, Tyler Perry played Cross in Alex Cross.

The second season renewal for Cross was announced at Prime Video’s inaugural Upfront presentation in April 2024, months before the debut of the first. Jeanine Mason, Wes Chatham and Matthew Lillard have all been cast for season 2.

SAG Award-winning actor Hodge has many memorable roles to his credit. During season 4 of The Walking Dead, he had the small role of Mike, Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) boyfriend and father of her son Andre. He is well known for his role as Hawkman/Carter in Black Adam and Showtime’s City on a Hill.

He also plays Alec Hardison in Leverage: Redemption and starred in Regina King’s directorial debut, One Night in Miami, a role in which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the NAACP Image Awards. Hodge also starred in Invisible Man with Elizabeth Moss and Hidden Figures, an Academy Award-nominated film.

He and his brother Edwin Hodge star with Danielle Deadwyler in Parallel, a movie by Hodge Brother Productions streaming on Paramount+. He, along with Joe Keery and Camila Morrone, stars in Keir O’Donnell’s romantic heist film Marmalade, which is now streaming on Hulu.

Next, Hodge will star in The Dutchman a thriller directed by Andre Gaines, know for Showtimes’ The One and Only Dick Gregory.
