A Post-Apocalyptic Masterpiece? This New Game Merges Fallout With The Last of Us in the Best Way Possible!

Fallout meets The Last Of Us in jaw-dropping new game

A world on the brink of extinction

Discovering new games is one of the best parts of this job, and sometimes little gems pop up that I’d usually know nothing of.

Sometimes a game like M.I.N.S.K., the one we’re looking at here, will appear and instantly captivate me, urging me to throw it onto my Steam wishlist.

M.I.N.S.K. will be coming to Steam at a later date

So, what is M.I.N.S.K.? Well, it’s kind of a mash-up of lots of post-apocalyptic themes and inspirations from across gaming.

It’s clear there’s a little of The Last of Us in here, due to the ruined cities and lack of a populace.

However, there’s a bit of horror lingering here, too, through the use of world-ending situations and a desperate society living on the edge.

There’s also a large dollop of Fallout included, through the same themes, but also the robotic characters that make up a large part of this one.

Pulling from the game’s Steam page, the developer notes, “The player controls a robot that is the last hope for its creator’s survival. With a strong emphasis on storytelling, this game immerses players in a gripping narrative that promises suspense, danger, and emotional depth.”

Browsing through the screenshots and the trailer, it seems much of M.I.N.S.K. will have you ferrying packages and items across landscapes, a little like Death Stranding.

At least, that’s my hope. The idea of scurrying back and forth using a robot to scavenge feels like the game for me, and there’s more puzzle-solving than action in this indie game.

Sadly, there’s no release date set, as yet. However, you can apply to join the playtest and get your hands on the game early, perhaps even making suggestions to the developer.

This will certainly be one to watch out for if you prefer your apocalypse to be less action-driven.
