Meghan Markle Faces Fresh Backlash Over New Podcast Title Amid Plagiarism Claims

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is once again at the center of controversy as her upcoming podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, faces accusations of plagiarism—before its official release.

The Controversy Unfolds

Announced last week via Instagram, Meghan’s new project under her production deal with Lemonada Media was meant to spotlight female entrepreneurs. However, critics quickly pointed out striking similarities to lesser-known podcasts, including Confessions of a CEO and a YouTube series of the same name by creator Kady Méite.

Social media erupted with claims of intellectual theft, with one X user writing, “Maybe she should’ve Googled the title first?” Another added, “First Archetypes, now this—does she have an original idea?”

Defense from an Unlikely Ally

In a twist, Méite—whose YouTube series shares the exact title—publicly defended Meghan. Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, she dismissed the plagiarism claims as a “coincidence.”

“I get why people made the connection, but I don’t believe Meghan copied me. What bothers me is how this is being used to tear down a woman,” Méite said. “I know how it feels to have your work stolen… but this isn’t that.”

A Rocky Road for Meghan’s Ventures

The podcast backlash follows a string of setbacks for the Duchess:

Her Netflix docuseries, With Love, Meghan, was panned by critics and audiences alike.
Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, faced similar plagiarism allegations.
Her first podcast, Archetypes, was abruptly canceled by Spotify after one season.

Despite the noise, Confessions of a Female Founder is set to debut on April 8. Meghan teased “raw, inspiring conversations” with women who turned small ideas into empires, calling the project “eye-opening and fun.”

Public Reaction: Divided as Usual

Online debates rage between Meghan’s supporters and detractors:

#TeamMeghan fans argue the title is generic and the criticism overblown.
Critics, meanwhile, are rallying behind #CopycatDuchess and #MeghanMarkleOutOfIdeas.

What’s Next?

With the podcast’s release imminent, all eyes are on whether Meghan can silence the skeptics—or if this will become another PR headache for the Sussexes.

One thing’s clear: In the court of public opinion, Meghan Markle remains guilty until proven innocent.
