One of the biggest celebrity stories of 2024 was the dissolution of Jennifer Lopez‘s marriage to Ben Affleck. After dating in the early 2000s, Affleck and Lopez tied the know at last in 2022…but their marriage was soured by their serious personality differences, which prompted Lopez to throw in the towel and file for divorce in Los Angeles last August.
As the calendar has flipped to 2025, Lopez is looking to move on while Affleck has lost himself in work and film production. Rumors are flying as to JLo‘s next move, and recent photos have sparked surprising new speculation about the “Let’s Get Loud” singer’s next romance.

Shortly before the turn of the year, Lopez was spotted in Aspen, Colorado with Kevin Costner, the famed actor known for his roles in “Field of Dreams” and “Yellowstone“. Costner too is recently divorced — and he might have used his time in Aspen to “feel out” whether Lopez would be right for him as both actors seek a “rebound“.
Costner, who turns 70 next week, has more life experience than the 55-year-old Lopez, and it is important to “Jenny from the Block” that her next romance be with someone who is a recognized celebrity — and it doesn’t hurt that Costner knows Affleck and what he can be like.
“Kevin has a lot of the qualities she’s looking for in her next man,” an insider revealed. “He’s incredibly successful and he’s someone that commands a huge amount of respect in the industry and among all their peers. Having him on her arm would make a big statement — and it doesn’t hurt that Ben has always spoken very highly of Kevin.”
Costner’s reputation and reported $250 million net worth also appeal to Lopez, as the “Dances with Wolves” star has more money in the bank than Affleck — who recently sought refuge with ex-wife Jennifer Garner as wildfires raged in Los Angeles.
“Of course dating Kevin would come with a lot of attention for her,” the insider said of Lopez. “He’s something of a Hollywood icon so linking up with him would be great for her image. Kevin is also very much a gentleman and loves to flash the cash, so dates with him will mean private jets and the best of everything, which certainly appeals to her as well.”
But for now, Lopez is not preparing a fifth wedding or any other escalation in light of her divorce from Affleck. For now, Costner and JLo — if they are indeed an item — are still getting to know one another, and there is “excitement” as to where this process could lead.
“J.Lo isn’t ready to rush into anything right now but she does seem excited about the potential, and even if they wind up just connecting as friends, it’s still a massive ego boost to have him falling all over her like this,” the insider concluded.
