Meghan Markle may not have seen King Charles for some time over recent years, however it appears the pair have a very unusual thing in common despite being thousands of miles apart.

Although the King, 75, famously does not eat lunch, it has been reported that this has now changed as he has been urged by doctors and his wife Queen Camilla to fill his stomach amid his ongoing cancer treatment.

However, while royal fans may think the King now snacks on sandwiches for lunch, this is not the case.

Instead, The Mirror has reported that the monarch enjoys half an avocado, a snack that is often associated with Millennial diets.

A source previously told The Mail: “With some reluctance, he now has something to eat at lunchtime – a snack, really.

“He now eats half an avocado to sustain him through the day. It’s important, particularly if you have got an illness.”

This lunchtime choice is one that the King’s daughter-in-law Meghan Markle would certainly approve of.

When she was a senior working member of the Royal Family, Meghan was known to have enjoyed an avocado.

In a January 2019 Instagram post taken by her friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin, a smashed avocado on toast was seen served on a silver platter as he referred to the duchess as the “avocado toast whisperer.”

While Meghan is known for her love of avocados, it appears the King’s other daughter-in-law Princess Kate also loves the fruit, especially when she was pregnant.

During a royal visit in 2017, Prince William was given an avocado to hand over to his pregnant wife.

At the time, he said: “I’ve never been given an avocado before. That’s really sweet of you. Catherine will love the avocado.”

It seems that avocados are a popular snack among several members of the royal family. Not only do King Charles and Meghan Markle share a fondness for the healthy fruit, but Princess Kate has also been known to enjoy it, particularly during her pregnancies.

In fact, when the Princess of Wales was expecting, her love for avocados became well-known. On a royal visit in 2017, Prince William was humorously gifted an avocado by a well-wisher to help with Kate’s morning sickness. His response, “Catherine will love the avocado,” highlighted just how much she appreciated the nutrient-packed snack during that time.

Avocados have become something of a staple in modern health-conscious diets, often praised for their rich nutrient profile, healthy fats, and versatility. Whether served on toast, blended into smoothies, or eaten plain, the fruit offers numerous health benefits, including improved heart health and a good source of fiber.

The fact that both Meghan and King Charles incorporate this superfood into their diets suggests a shared appreciation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Despite their physical distance and the differences in their royal roles, their fondness for avocados is one small yet interesting connection between the two.

It’s also worth noting that the fruit’s popularity has grown globally in recent years, transcending generations and social classes, from Millennials to royalty. Whether it’s for its health benefits or simply its delicious taste, avocados seem to have earned a special place at royal tables.
