Meghan Markle has admitted to using the global spotlight she attracts to help market her friends’ products.

The Duchess of Sussex opened up on what inspires her fashion choices in a new interview.

Meghan told the New York Times that she chooses to support designers with whom she has strong ties as well as smaller upcoming brands.

The duchess said: “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting.

“That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

Meghan added: “I spend a lot of time just Googling, looking for brands.

“When people are online looking for things or reading things, I’m trying to find great new designers, especially in different territories.”

The Duke of Sussex will head to New York during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week.

Climate Week starts on September 22 and ends on September 29, while High-level Week begins on September 23 and runs until September 27.

Prince Harry will be carrying out solo engagements as his wife Meghan has chosen not to join him.

Prince Harry will be carrying out solo engagements as his wife Meghan has chosen not to join him.

A source told the Express: “Meghan doesn’t have to attend every event with her husband. If she skips an event, it doesn’t mean there is anything wrong between them.

“She’s happy for him [Harry] to take this one on his own to shine a light on what really matters to him.”

During a statement confirming the trip, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex named four organisations that Harry will represent in New York.

The spokesperson said: “He will participate in engagements with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst.”
