With X-23 set to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, Logan actress Dafne Keen teases her heroine potentially suiting up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film. One of the recent surprises to be revealed about the Deadpool & Wolverine cast was the return of Keen as Laura, a.k.a. X-23, which was her breakout role in 2017’s Logan. More than half a decade later, X-23 is taking part in the MCU’s newest movie adventure, reuniting with her Logan co-star Hugh Jackman.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Keen opened up more about reprising the role of X-23 in Deadpool & Wolverine. During her chat with the trade, Keen talked about the photo she and Jackman took together for their reunion while also, interestingly enough, bringing up how she had gone in for a costume fitting, fueling speculation that Laura may finally get her own super suit:

That was a day that I’d gone in for a costume-fitting, and Shawn, Ryan, and Hugh were in Shawn’s office, and they wanted to run a scene, and they were like ‘Oh, we should just bring Dafne in because she’s in the studio.’

Why Giving Dafne Keen’s X-23 A New Costume In Deadpool & Wolverine Would Make Sense

Deadpool & Wolverine is the perfect chance to give Keen’s Laura her own superhero costume. The MCU movie is essentially a tribute to the original X-Men movie timeline, as that series of films has finished its run and the X-Men rights are back with Marvel Studios. Since Logan was one of the final movies of that franchise, it was always a big mystery if Keen would ever get to play X-23 again.

Now that Keen is grown-up, Deadpool & Wolverine will be able to follow an adult version of Laura, who may have at this point adapted a superhero moniker, which would require a costume. Given how Jackman is donning the iconic Wolverine costume in the movie, it would only be fitting if the story also tackled giving X-23 a live-action suit. If Keen also has a substantial role in Deadpool & Wolverine, it would be shocking if she didn’t have a costume at some point.

With only a few days left before the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, the answers about whether or not X-23 gets a suit will be given soon enough. The bigger question, however, is if this will be Keen’s final time playing Laura, or if she may be showing up in the MCU again as part of the X-Men reboot. Whatever the case, Keen’s return as the Marvel heroine in Deadpool & Wolverine is sure to be an exciting part of the upcoming Phase 5 movie.
