With the K-pop wave taking over the world, several incredible Korean acts have emerged and taken over global charts with their enthralling musical talent. In the midst of them, Stray Kids, the eight-member boy group has taken the world by storm. Containing members Bang Chan, Leeknow, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N., the group is one of the best-selling acts of last year (via BBC) and has found an unlikely fan in the Marvel star Ryan Reynolds.

Ever since Stary Kids showed their incredible talent at the popular K-pop competition show, Kingdom: Legendary War, by showcasing a Deadpool-inspired performance, Reynolds has become an ardent follower of the group (see Teen Vogue). Various messages, gifts, birthday messages, interviews, and more later (see X), it seems Reynolds has finally gotten the chance to meet Bang Chan in person.

As per the latest article on OSEN, a South Korean news site, it was reported that on 4 July 2024, after the press conference, Reynolds and Hugh Jackman met Bang Chan and other members of Stray Kids and reportedly filmed some yet-to-be-revealed content. While rumors of a possible Stray Kids collaboration with Marvel have been going on for a long time (see X and Reddit), K-pop fans are now certain that a Deadpool & Wolverine X Stray Kids is finally happening.

K-pop Fans Certain Stray Kids is Finally Collaborating with Marvel

K-pop group, Stray Kids

Stray Kids might be a genre of their own but throughout their performances and appearances, they have referenced Marvel several times. From one of their pre-debut songs, Scene Stealers, containing direct references to several Marvel characters and actors to their recent meet-up with Marvel star Chris Hemsworth at the Met Gala 2024 (see BuzzFeed UK), fans even believe Star Kids have been manifesting a Marvel collab for a long time.

And such a collaboration might finally be taking place soon. Rumors of a possible collab started back in 2022 when an X account called Miss Minutes tweeted asking fans to recommend some good songs by the K-pop act (via X). The group’s recent meeting with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, along with their upcoming comeback, Ate, has further convinced fans that Stray Kids are finally brewing something epic with Reynolds.

As the news of their comeback and meeting went viral, these are the many theories and speculations fans have about their alleged collab:

With either party yet to remark about the alleged collab or the meeting, K-pop fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for Stray Kids’ comeback on July 19 and Deadpool & Wolverine’s release. Since typically OSTs are released before the release of a film, many fans anticipate the potential track Chk Chk Boom from the group’s upcoming comeback, Ate, might be a possible soundtrack for the upcoming Marvel flick.

As things are still shrouded in mystery, it would be best to wait!

Deadpool & Wolverine releases in theatres on July 26, 2024.
